Fútbol in Da Ville

A month after the United States National team didn’t qualify for the World Cup. Soccer fans around the states were mourning this horrible news for the sport here in the states. The sport in U.S. isn’t that popular and some may say it’s even dying. Fans of the sport want to see a revival here. Soccer isn’t a major sport here but around the world its the most well known. Many are wondering what’s next here in the U.S. after not making it to the the World Cup. Fans all around are looking for hope. Some may say that hope is found in the city of Louisville, Kentucky where something big is brewing and has been for 3 seasons now.

Louisville City FC is Kentucky’s only fully professional soccer club. It has quickly established a reputation both for winning on the field and solid fan support off the field. Louisville City FC is often referred to as LouCity. It is a member of the United Soccer League, USL, which is one level below Major League Soccer. The USL includes 32 teams across the country, some of them independent and others acting as affiliates with MLS clubs. LouCity is a team on the rise and making noise in the USL.

In their first season in the USL, LouCity made it to the USL Eastern Conference Final in the 2015 inaugural season. In LouCity’s second season it did the exact same thing and made it back to the USL Eastern Conference Final. This made it 2 strait years of coming just short of making it to the Championship game. Some would say this was a disappointment but for a team that only has existed for 2 seasons that is an amazing accomplishment! Talks of LouCity getting it’s own stadium started becoming more likely with every win.

2 years down and fans expected that LouCity should have the hang of things. In the 2017 season LouCity not only had the best record in all of the USL Eastern Conference but it made it right back to the USL Eastern Conference Final for the third strait year. Louisville City FC didn’t stop there but would win the Eastern Conference Final and advance to the USL Championship. It only took 3 years for LouCity to find its way to the USL Championship game and start making a name for itself in soccer to show who LouCity is and the noise they are making in the city of Louisville! LouCity would go on to win the USL Championship game against the Swope Park Rangers with a score of 1-0 late in the game. This showed not only the city of Louisville but the USL and the rest of the U.S. that LouCity was something special and something big is happening in Louisville.

With the success the team has had, many have wondered if this team really does deserve a stadium of its own after 3 successful seasons and 1 championship. LouCity currently plays home games at Louisville Slugger Field. The stadium averages an attendance of 8,601 fans attend LouCity’s USL games. In 2017 they ranking at the top in the league in attendance. For a club that hasn’t been around for a long time this is really good numbers to have. Louisville Slugger Field can seat 13,131 for baseball games so only a little over a half of the seats are filled up for soccer games. This brings the question many people have been asking, why build a brand new stadium in Louisville if you can’t pack out an entire stadium for regular attendance for LouCity USL games?

LouCity got approved by the mayor Greg Fischer and city government officials in Kentucky to move forward with building a new stadium. The stadium is currently projected to open in March 2020, satisfying a USL mandate that all franchises must play in soccer-specific stadiums by the 2020 season. This works out perfectly for the USL and seems like it could be a could a substantial jump for Louisville being able to bring in a MLS soccer club. The stadium would seat 10,000 and brings in new business’ to the community in which the facility is built. With attendance growing by a thousand each year by the year 2020 when the 6 season kicks off LouCity looks like it could very well pack out that stadium. The facts don’t lie, Louisville City FC is on the rise and fans are coming.

A major question going along with the new facility for LouCity soccer is, how will this stadium be paid for? It seems as that taxpayers will be involved in this process of building a new stadium in the city of Louisville. The Fischer administration says the deal is public-private partnership. This is said to benefit both parties. If this holds true we will have to wait and see. Based on the facts with growing numbers in attendance and a championship team that could win more, this could hold to be a true statement. LouCity would later on pay back the government when revenue starts to pour in. Only time will truly tell if LouCity FC will become an investment well worth it. You decide if this is true?

Louisville City FC is on the rise and the people of Louisville better watch out because we have something special happening in our city and in the world of soccer. LouCity is in the USL now but watch out because with a new stadium and possibly more championship trophies Louisville City FC could be working its way up to the MLS. Louisville which is a city known for the Kentucky Derby could soon be known for a sport many call dying that is alive and well in LouCity!

It is very smart to explore more than just one because transportation is affordable and who knows if you’ll ever get a chance to come back. Sweden and Denmark are not only beautiful and historic places to visit, but they have a long history with each other and some of it is not good. Many wars have broken out over the past couple of decades over power of these 2 countries. You’re sure to step into history wherever you go in these 2 countries.

Sweden and Denmark are both Scandinavian countries and while they used to be age-old rivals, today they typically get along. They are both located in the Northern part of Europe near Germany and Norway. They are separated by the Öresund which links the Baltic Sea with the North Sea. Today their relations are good but long ago war was normal to happen everyday.

Below is only my opinion on why you should visit Sweden or Denmark or even both! You would be crazy to not want to travel and check out these countries!

1. The Archetecture

The above picture is not a painting this is truly what both of these countries look like when explore the villages and cities. Rivers flowing right through cities are sure to be a sight to see. 2. Vikings

Sweden 3

Sweden and Denmark are known to be some of the first locations of where vikings ruled and came from. Vikings at one time in history controlled lands and were huge military assets in wars in the early stages of Nordic and Scandinavian cultures. You have a unique chance to visit vikings today in both of these countries when you come to visit. Step into history while living in the present.

3. History Sweden 5

War is over in Sweden and Denmark. All that remains are the cannons, weapons, and buildings of the historic battles that were fought here. You are sure to be in for some amazing sites and battle grounds that will make you feel as if you were actually in the war. Whatever side you go on you’re in for a treat.

4.The City and Countryside

Sweden and Denmark take pride in how beautiful their buildings and landscapes work. You will notice whatever country you visit you’re sure to see buildings that have stood the test for over hundreds of years. The night life is also exciting with a lot to do in the city and in the countryside.

5. The Food

One of the best things about traveling is experiencing new food anywhere that you go. Sweden and Denmark were home to vikings so that should tell you that any meat here is a must have. Fish is also a favorite too. When close to the Baltic Sea you’re sure to be in for some great seafood.

Why You Should Visit Iceland

Iceland is not a country that strikes me right away as places to visit but you would be surprised how beautiful this country truly is. Iceland is located east of Greenland and northwest of Europe. It is typically known as a destination stop for people traveling to countries in Europe. You would be surprised at what you would miss if you just treated this country as another country to visit.

Iceland’s first settlers were Norsemen from Scandinavia and Celts from the British isles who settled here in the 9th and 10th centuries. While Iceland has been occupied for years it has only been an independent country since 1944. It has a rich history with a beautiful landscape to go along with it. You are sure to see much green grass and glaciers throughout Iceland. It’s not all Ice luckily.

Hopefully by the end of this post you will mark this up as a country you should visit in the near future! Why not giving Iceland a try? The list below isn’t in any particular order.

1. Nature and The GlaciersIceland5

If you are a outdoors person who loves exploring nature, Iceland is full of this! Known for its glaciers, mountains, and active volcanos you are sure to be in for a treat when visiting this country. Grab you backpacks and walking sticks and take a hike throughout this safe, quiet, and beautiful country!

2. The Hot Springs and Geysers

A must see along the Golden Circle in the Skaftafell National Park is the highly active Geyser in the Hot Spring Area with boiling mud pits, exploding geysers and the lively Strokkur which spouts water 100 ft.  in the air every few minutes. Don’t touch the water though because it is usually boiling hot and can damage your skin. Such a natural phenomenon you don’t want to miss.

3. The Food

Who doesn’t love eating? If your not a fan of fish than I am sorry to say that you may want to stay around from most restaurant’s in Iceland! Although they do have pretty good hotdogs so you’re sure to find something you’ll like. Fish and Chips and a go to dish to get. For dessert try the Skyr Yogurt which is only made in Iceland and is a thick and creamy is a must have in Iceland. Most food you find is also pretty cheap so you won’t starve to death while visiting this country.

Bonus Pics:

Give Iceland a try and don’t treat it as a country you just pass through but never see. You probably won’t spend a whole lot of time here but it wouldn’t be a bad place to relax and explore before you returned home. Go check out Iceland!

The Dominican Republic is such a beautiful country with a welcoming community and a lot of attractions to see. It is directly southeast of the United States. This should definitely be up on your list of countries to visit!

The Dominican Republic is the earliest of all the European colonies in the western hemisphere. If you’re looking for a getaway from the city and want somewhere relaxing to go, then the beaches and resorts are for you! Some of the best places to take a nice relaxing break are located in the southeast part of this country. Most of them also come with all you can eat food and drinks.

5. The Food (Empanadas)IMG_1201

Why You Should Visit Dubai!

I have not personally been to Dubai but my friend Daniel has been and has 5 reasons for why you, me as well, should go visit there! Dubai is a city in the United Arab Emirates with mix culture and a fascinating history.

Dubai is located in the Middle East, on the Persian Gulf, and next to the Strait of Hormuz. It is the most international and open city in all of the middle east. If you ask anyone they have probably heard of Dubai. It also is home to the tallest building in the world.

The majority of the landmass outside the city of Dubai is surrounded by the desert. Just as we think of the woods, the Emirati’s treat the desert the same way. Tips for Getting the Grade You Want

Life is a mission and when in college your mission and goal in every class is to get an “A” or just pass the class. Sure everyone won’t admit it but we want it! Maybe it’t not an “A”, hopefully it’s just to pass this class but while in college I have noticed we need to do a lot in every class if your really want to earn that grade you want and desire.

I will share with you 5 tips I have done in every class I have to prepare myself to get the grade I desire! Maybe you know most of these things but truly apply them to your life and you will see a difference in the classes you have and who knows, your grades may even go up!

1. Show Up

Show Up

No matter if attendance is required or not you need to show up for class. There’s a reason why the professors give lectures every week! Whether, you’re staying for college or not you need to understand the importance of showing up to class. Not going to class can affect what you take out of it. Who knows you may go to a class that changes your life! Imagine what would happen if you just showed up?

2. Take Notes

Take Notes

This can go along with showing up to class. To really learn and get the most out of lectures, you need to take notes on what is said and shown during class. Sure it’s a lot of writing and/or typing but by doing this simple task you will remember more and when studying have notes to go back on to help you understand a concept or question!

3. Actually Read the Book

Read Book

You probably hate the book for whatever class it is and I am right there with you, but I have noticed a lot that is said in lectures usually connects with what’s going on in the book! Theres a reason behind why the book you get is so bulky. Sure you may not read every chapter but the book can be a good teacher when you are away from the class. It probably can’t answer all your questions but you would be surprised what you find.

4. Study For Class

No I don’t mean study the night before the exam but I do mean study every week leading up to the exam so that you truly will know the material that will be on the exam! By just studying week by week, you will be able to know what is going on in class and when the exam rolls around you’ll be able to walk in confident probably knowing more than most!

5. Ask The Professor

Just Ask

The Professor is there for you to ask questions! Sure you may feel very dumb but I would rather feel dumb and ask a question then just wait until the exam happens and then you may be stuck not knowing the answer. It never hurts to ask the professor!

Maybe you will use these tips, maybe you won’t. Just always know they’ll be here if you truly want to figure out how to get the grade you want!
